About Strong Roots Accounting
Strong Roots Accounting is a small accounting firm based in Fort Worth, Texas, serving small businesses and nonprofits with accurate, reliable bookkeeping and financial insight. We are not a factory. We are not a revolving door. We are a close-knit, values-driven team that operates with intention — every client gets one point of contact, consistent communication, and work they can count on every single month.
We exist to be a collaborative partner to businesses and individuals, providing accurate, reliable insights that allow them to make informed decisions with confidence and grow. Our vision is bigger than bookkeeping: we are building something that creates meaningful opportunities for people to build long-lasting stability and confidence in their future.
We are growing — intentionally and carefully — and we are looking for the right person to grow with us.
This Is Who We Are
We operate by a set of values and principles that are non-negotiable. They are not posted on a wall and forgotten. They are how we show up every day.
Core Values:
-
Trust
-
Quality
-
Contribution
Our Principles:
-
Honesty and accuracy above all.
-
Be curious. Ask why. And solve problems.
-
Rapid, responsive, and reliable communication.
-
Repeatable processes are the only option.
If you read those and felt something — keep reading. If you read those and they felt like just words, this is not the right fit, and that is okay.
This Is Who We Are NOT Looking For
We are a small team doing meaningful work. There is no room for the following:
-
People who cut corners and hope no one notices
-
People who go quiet when things get hard
-
People who need to be micromanaged to deliver
-
People who treat accuracy as optional
-
People who are not genuinely curious about the work they do
-
People who are not committed to the client behind the numbers
If any of that describes you, we genuinely wish you well — just not here.
The Role
The person best suited for this job is organized, detail-oriented, and personable. If you like to put your headphones on and dive into the numbers, you’ll love this job.
Our team gets to complete something from start to finish every day — there’s real joy in putting your head down and checking tasks off one by one. But this role takes more than the obvious skills. The person who thrives here is caring: caring about the work itself, about what it means for the client, for their peers, and for the company as a whole. That caring is what drives someone to get the details right, ask the question instead of guessing, and take pride in a quality product. It also takes someone intrinsically motivated. We won’t be standing over your shoulder — we trust you to hold yourself accountable and stay on track.
Strong Roots is the most mission-minded place many of our team members have ever worked. We care about our people first, and that shows up in the quality of our work, the strength of our client relationships, and the culture we’ve built together.
This is a remote, backend bookkeeping position supporting our Client Relationship Manager. You will not have direct contact with clients — your job is to execute the bookkeeping work accurately, quietly, and on time so our team can deliver a seamless experience on the client-facing side.
You will manage end-of-month reconciliations across approximately 30 small business and nonprofit client accounts. Work is assigned by our Client Relationship Manager, who will be your primary point of contact for priorities, questions, and feedback.
This role may be part-time or full-time — we are open to the right fit and will discuss arrangements with the right candidate.
What You Will Do
-
Perform end-of-month bank reconciliations across a portfolio of small business and nonprofit clients
-
Categorize and organize transactions accurately within QuickBooks Online
-
Ensure client books are clean, consistent, and completed on time every month
-
Flag discrepancies or unusual items to the Client Relationship Manager for review
-
Follow established processes and SOPs for each client account
-
Maintain accuracy and confidentiality across all client files at all times
What We Are Looking For
Required:
-
Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably with U.S.-based clients
-
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online — this is non-negotiable
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets
-
Familiarity with Xero is a plus
-
Strong written and spoken English — you will communicate regularly with our team
-
High attention to detail and an uncompromising commitment to accuracy
-
Reliable internet connection and a dedicated, professional remote work setup
-
Ability to work during U.S. Central Standard Time hours or with meaningful overlap
-
Self-directed — you manage your workload, you meet your deadlines, you ask when you are unsure
Nice to have:
-
Experience with nonprofit accounting
-
Prior experience working remotely with U.S.-based accounting firms
-
Familiarity with bookkeeping across multiple industries
