Someone who&#8217;s as comfortable running foundational product studies as they are digging into brand perception, buyer mindsets, or how a marketing site actually works for the people using it.<\/p>\n<p>This is strategic, high-visibility work \u2014 you&#8217;ll partner with Product Design, Product Management, Brand, and Marketing to shape what we build and how we tell the world about it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What makes this role unique:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work across both brand and product research, with real influence on each<\/li>\n<li>Research enterprise developer tools and DevOps workflows \u2014 including AI-powered features built for developers<\/li>\n<li>Fast-paced environment where research directly influences design and business decisions<\/li>\n<li>Be part of a team of talented, experienced researchers who genuinely invest in each other&#8217;s growth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>What you&#8217;ll do<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead foundational, problem validation, and strategic research projects across your assigned product areas and beyond<\/li>\n<li>Drive both brand and product research \u2014 including buyer persona development, brand perception studies, and digital experience research \u2014 that directly informs positioning and messaging<\/li>\n<li>Be the expert on the users within your area of coverage: their behaviours, pain points, workflows, and goals<\/li>\n<li>Make connections across research initiatives, surfacing macro insights that no single study could reveal on its own<\/li>\n<li>Build trusted relationships with Product Design, Product Management, Brand, and Marketing counterparts, guiding them to the right research approach<\/li>\n<li>Advocate for and socialise actionable insights in a clear and compelling way that increases empathy across the organisation<\/li>\n<li>Independently drive research prioritisation across stage groups, balancing impact, product direction, and company objectives<\/li>\n<li>Mentor other researchers and actively shape how the Experience Research team works, through process iteration, documentation, and peer reviews<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>What you&#8217;ll bring<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Empathetic, curious and open-minded<\/li>\n<li>Deep mixed-methods research experience across qualitative and quantitative methods<\/li>\n<li>A track record in both product research and marketing or brand research<\/li>\n<li>The ability to guide stakeholders \u2014 including senior ones \u2014 toward the right approach, even when they arrive with a firm opinion<\/li>\n<li>Strong instincts for prioritisation across multiple stakeholder groups in a fast-moving environment<\/li>\n<li>Clear, compelling communication that makes findings land with product, brand, and marketing audiences<\/li>\n<li>Experience working in a highly iterative, fast-paced environment, with the ability to pivot with sudden changes in direction<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fully remote, globally distributed team \u2014 with strong async communication habits<\/li>\n<li>Self-motivated and self-managing, with strong organisational skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to ramp up to a highly technical domain quickly<\/li>\n<li>Share our values, and work in accordance with those values<\/li>\n<li>Able to conduct research in a fully remote setting and use GitLab as part of your daily workflow<\/li>\n<li>Experience working on AI products, particularly for enterprise dev tooling, is a plus<\/li>\n<li>Experience working on enterprise and\/or developer tooling products is a plus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>The base salary range for this role\u2019s listed level is currently for residents of the\u00a0United States only. This range is intended to reflect the role&#8217;s base salary rate in locations throughout the US.\u00a0Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, alignment with market data,\u00a0and geographic location.\u00a0The base salary range does not include any bonuses, equity, or benefits.
