Individuals navigating this time benefit from support that reflects real, lived understanding, not just clinical guidance.<\/p>\n<p>Maternal Health Peer Specialists play a critical role in the care continuum by offering empathetic, experience-informed support. This role helps ensure members feel seen, understood, and empowered to make decisions that align with their own values, needs, and circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>Peer support is not about directing decisions\u00e2\u0080\u0094it&#8217;s about creating space, sharing perspective when appropriate, and helping members navigate what feels right for them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What You&#8217;ll Do<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide virtual peer support to members across pregnancy and postpartum, grounded in lived experience<\/li>\n<li>Offer empathetic listening, validation, and encouragement through key perinatal transitions<\/li>\n<li>Share personal insights when appropriate to normalize experiences and reduce isolation<\/li>\n<li>Conduct outreach and engagement using structured workflows and communication tools<\/li>\n<li>Support members in navigating common challenges (emotional wellbeing, identity shifts, recovery, feeding, sleep, returning to work)<\/li>\n<li>Encourage connection to Canopie services (coaching, classes, clinical care) based on member needs<\/li>\n<li>Recognize when additional or clinical support may be needed and follow defined escalation pathways<\/li>\n<li>Document interactions clearly and consistently within Canopie&#8217;s platform<\/li>\n<li>Communicate with members via phone, video, and secure messaging<\/li>\n<li>Participate in training, supervision, and peer support development\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Scope &amp; Boundaries<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This is a non-clinical role and does not provide medical or mental health treatment<\/li>\n<li>Peer Specialists do not diagnose or direct care decisions<\/li>\n<li>The focus is on support, connection, and helping members navigate available resources<\/li>\n<li>Clear escalation pathways are in place for clinical or higher-risk needs\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><strong>Who Thrives in This Role<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><strong>Required<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lived experience with pregnancy and\/or the postpartum period within the last :3-5 years<\/li>\n<li>Ability to thoughtfully reflect on and use personal experience to support others in a balanced, appropriate way<\/li>\n<li>Some experience in maternal health, peer support, community-based work, or caregiving roles<\/li>\n<li>Comfortable providing virtual support and building connection in a digital environment<\/li>\n<li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a warm, non-judgmental approach<\/li>\n<li>Ability to follow structured workflows while maintaining authenticity in interactions<\/li>\n<li>Strong digital literacy (video platforms, messaging tools, documentation systems)<\/li>\n<li>Reliable, organized, and responsive in a remote setting\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience in peer support roles (formal or informal)<\/li>\n<li>Exposure to perinatal mental health, coaching, or support groups<\/li>\n<li>Background working with diverse or underserved populations<\/li>\n<li>Bilingual (Spanish\/English)\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Schedule &amp; Commitment<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Part-time contractor role (approximately 20 hours\/week; varies by program needs)<\/li>\n<li>Availability during business hours required; evening and weekend availability is a plus\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Benefits<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fully remote, digital-first care model<\/li>\n<li>Ongoing clinical training, peer consultation, and supervision<\/li>\n<li>Opportunity to help build equitable access to maternal health support at scale<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Canopie is a digital maternal health company supporting pregnant and postpartum individuals through structured, evidence-based support, education, and care navigation.
