Remote Tribe is a dynamic online platform, encompassing a community, newsletter, and magazine dedicated to connecting nomads worldwide. It offers an array of exclusive and up-to-date resources, many of which are available at no cost.

Remote working offers unparalleled flexibility, allowing employees to tailor their work schedules for a better work-life balance, leading to enhanced productivity. The elimination of daily commutes not only saves time and reduces costs but also supports environmental sustainability by cutting down on carbon emissions. For employers, it opens up access to a global talent pool, fostering diversity and innovation, while also reducing overhead costs through lesser need for physical office spaces. Additionally, the shift towards remote work drives technological advancements and efficiency, as companies upgrade their digital infrastructure. In essence, remote working presents a win-win scenario, promoting both personal well-being and organizational growth.

A digital nomad visa is a special visa category for remote workers, allowing them to live and work in a foreign country for an extended period. It requires proof of online employment or business ownership, stable income, and often health insurance. Each country’s visa varies in duration, tax implications, and specific requirements, designed to attract professionals who can contribute economically without displacing local jobs.

Currently over 50 countries offer digital nomad visas, you can read the full list here.

When considering an extended stay in a new country, it’s crucial to be mindful of the potential tax implications. Countries seeking additional revenue may readily classify you as a tax resident, subjecting you to taxation. Whether you qualify as a tax resident depends on the specific regulations of that country. Typically, there are two main criteria for establishing tax residency. The first involves the duration of your stay, commonly referred to as the 183-day rule, although different periods may also apply.

The second criterion is forming substantial connections with the country, such as owning property or having a local bank account. Given these factors, thoroughly evaluating your circumstances is essential when planning a move to ensure you understand the tax responsibilities that may arise.
